In my tryptich I wanted to depict what other view me, I tend not to let other people's opinions get to me. Yet, I wanted to see how other people viewed me as. So I went around to some of my closest friends and teachers to describe me and so I used their opinions as inspiration to my painting. I drew myself playing games which was what my friends thought of me and then the other painting is what the teachers thought of me which was that i am a good student. The third painting is me because I also wanted to incorporate what I think about myself and that was that I am human and I am myself.

Planning
When it came to trying to think of ideas for my tryptich was having a bit of trouble now this was because we had to do something that had to connect all three paintings as well as to make it have a story that would relate to it. So in a way I wanted to make a story about me since I still want to keep my theme which is self image. I wanted to see how others viewed me and I wanted to draw out what others thought of me. So at this point i also decided to ask my friend to describe me in one word many said that i was funny and while I agree with this, I could not think of a way in how to interpret the idea of funny. So then OI also told them what else they thought of me and they said that I play a lot of video games. This is true I do believe that i spend most of my time playing in some type of console. So I decided to depict myself in my bedroom playing a game.
The next group of people that I asked was my teachers. I did not ask all my teachers but overall i got a good response from them they did say that I did my work and had good grades. So I drew my self with a good grade in one of my assignments. The last person that I wanted to depict on was myself, this is because overall I do believe that knowing who I am is very important aspect to me because it is the person who I am and will become.

Process
Once I was done with researching and finding an inspiration. I decided to put my sketches into my canvas because they're was not much that I was going to, other than letting the gesso dry. Once I had re-sketched the sketches in the canvas I was then ready to be able to paint. This in a way was really time consuming since they were big canvases. I had started on the background of the first piece when I realized that I wasn't sure what I wanted to put as background for the posters. Im not allowed to have posters hung up, yet being my room that I was painting I wanted to paint posters that had some value to me. So I decided to draw a Friends poster because its a must have staple like who doesn't like the show Friends. I then drew an abstract piece because it was inspired by one of Picasso's paintings that I truly adore.
Experimentation
|
I was able to experiment through out this triptych. They way that I was able to experiment was that I used a different canvas s well as the drawing in the background. I drew a girl devil, with horns, in each horn the had a man and a woman. But flourishing through the horns was a tree now this tree had a single apple. On the top of the tree there was a snake coming out. I wanted to be able to draw this because it was somethig that ive came to love. It was an inspiration to a post I saw in Instagram but it was so beutiful to pass up.
Reflection
Overal I was pleased with my piece this was because it was exactly what I anted to depict. It also was something that did take a long time, and the result was very good. Although I loved how it tured out I would like to change a few things about the piece and one of the things would be to add more furniture. I was thiking of adding more with out taking its value out but I was a bit scared to do so.
